White Pelican

A juvenile White-crowned Sparrow.

He was having a snack on the side of the road.

A Snowy Egret.

This seems to be the common shot I get of all Red-tailed Hawks.

This handsome fellow is a Northern Harrier. Same 'white' hawk that Becky pointed out to me in the car way back. He sat there a long time and didn't seem to care.

A juvenile Black-crowned Night-Heron. Same bird I posted for all those weeks fishing at the stream.

A fish eagle. Also known as an Osprey.

A pair of Double-crested Cormorants.

So far some great shots... but no new birds. In fact I only got one new bird today.

What is this. Hmmmm.

Looks promising.

Ah ha! A Barn Owl!

I had read on a local birdwatching site about a place they dubbed 'Owl Canyon'. I've never seen an owl, so I decided to give it a go. As we were pulling up to the place the conversation was as follows.

"I dunno if this is the place C- Oh what's that?!"

"...that's an owl."

We saw four or five barn owls just circling around. This sweet little face brings my total bird count up to a grand total of 99 birds photographed and identified. What will be the grand number 100!? Stay tuned!
