Bodega Bay!

The cave to the other side.

Went out to Bodega Bay with Eli and Helga today. We saw the usual assortment, including Gulls, Brown Pelicans, Great Egrets, and Savannah Sparrows.

Brown Pelicans

Savannah Sparrow

We also saw a couple lesser-seen players, like this Pacific Harbor Seal.

Adorable...

Or not...

We also saw this deer.

Delicious

But that's not why we were here. Oh no. THIS is why we came. Whales!

Whales are surprisingly hard to get pictures of! Anyway, I had a great day!
They always say to end on a strong note, so here's the underbelly of a vulture.

Awesome whales. Looks like you had a great day! I don't think grey whales come up our side of the continent :( or if they do I have never seen them. Very nice

We're now unsure on the actual species of whale. Helga said she was mistaken. They may be humpbacks. It's a lot harder to ID a whale's back than a bird's beak. ;)
