Creepy demon cat twin... on OUR side of the fence. Creepy cat.

Horny Red-shouldered Hawks screaming and hanging around. Humping in the trees around my apartment.

Robins!

This is my last post til I go home. I have two target birds for that visit! A Northern Cardinal and a Snowy Owl!

I can dream.

Lazy. Cause you can't spell lazy without 'took the photos from the deck'.

It never attracted birds. Apparently it was too busy killing bees.

Bewick's Wren. Quite the little singer. Hard to shoot.

American Goldfinch. I had issues IDing it.. but alas, just a Goldfinch.

Male Anna's Hummingbird. Singing and defending his turf. Hummingbirds are bullies.

Fwoooosh!

Red-shouldered Hawk.

Male Anna's Hummingbird. I kinda miss our Ruby-throated.

A pair of Red-shouldered Hawks. They were screaming alot. Hard to miss.

Mourning Doves. I was tired today. Slept a lot but did little for me.

Friday, February 12, 2010

New bird: Red-breasted Merganser. Looks alot like a common, but has a thinner bill. Had to have it confirmed because I wasn't quite sure.

I utterly failed to ID this Red-tailed Hawk. I thought it was a Harrier based solely on a small white patch on his butt and because he was in the area that in my mind was the 'Harrier place'.

Surf Scoter. Male and female.

I always fall for Song Sparrows and think they are something new. Song Sparrows have mored varying plumage than domestic hens, I guess.

Red-shouldered Hawk. Viewed from the safety of the car at an intersection.

Brown Pelicans in their winter plumage.

Preen preen preen.

Pelagic Cormorant next to his gull pal. These are a small kind of cormorant.

The ocean was very spitty. I'm fairly certain I damaged my camera in some tiny way, as it got quite soaked and I had to keep wiping off my filter and hiding the camera in my shirt.

Common Loon. Big bill, huge appetite.

Mostly Western Gulls and Glaucous-winged Gulls.

Varioues grebes. Horned and Eared.

A Great Egret who stood by the car calmly til the window rolled down, then freaked out and fled.

Common Goldeneye male.

Canvasback. A duck I always seem to see at one dude's pond every time we drive by. I have yet to see them anywhere else.

Bufflehead and Ruddy Duck.

A Black Oystercatcher. The waves were pounding and the birds were happy.

I waited too long to go out to the park, so it's a bit dark. Anna's Hummingbird.

Flock of Crows. It was slim pickings.

Slim. Pickings.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Mourning Dove. Haven't seen one in awhile, so it was nice.

Dark-eyed Junco. I can never get a good shot of one.

Northern Mockingbird.

Male Common Merganser.

California Ground Squirrel. He's always there, it seems.

Bufflehead. This one is a male.

The usual Yellow-rumped Warbler.

I don't care what anyone says, Mallards are good lookin' ducks.

Canada Goose. I find them kind of creepy, honestly.

For my loving fans.

Just for you! I walked to the park today. Good time.

This is a crow. Crows are very shiny and black.

Oak Titmouse. They are little clowns, often coming and peering at you. Apparently I am very interesting.

Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Still trying for that perfect shot of one, but closer.

The treat of the day, in my opinion. The world's smallest bird mom. Look at her tiny nest! Anna's Hummingbird.

As I was squatting down for a picture of this mushroom I realized I have become my mother.

Dark-eyed Junco. For those who wonder, there IS a Yellow-eyed Junco. No I can't show you one. They don't live here.
